I wasn’t seriously considering buying a new TV, but it just so happened that the Insignia TV I previously had in my bedroom unexpectedly stopped working after 10 long years of daily and nightly use.
How fortunate I was to find this one on sale!
As was the case with my old Insignia TV, the picture is exceptionally clear and sharp! It has multiple presets for picture and sound settings (both of which can be adjusted to your liking), and has excellent surround sound speakers built in, with bass resonance that is noticeably better than the more expensive Samsung TV I bought last year for the living room.
The initial set up was a breeze, and came with a quick set up guide written in both English and Spanish. However, I must mention one caveat:
If you intend to use the TV with a cable or satellite receiver, you will have to hook that up to one of the multiple HDMI or AUX ports provided; the scan feature intended to connect to cable or satellite TV ONLY works if your TV is directly connected to a wall outlet.
Other than that, it quickly found my wi-fi network, connected to it almost immediately after entering the password, and downloaded the necessary updates just as quickly. Also, it was fast and easy to download and set up my Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and HBOMax accounts on the TV, using my phone to scan the QR codes that came up on screen.
The only (very minor) difficulty I had with the set up process was attaching the “feet” to the bottom of the TV. As a few others reviewers have mentioned, the screws provided are pretty small and kind of hard to get in the holes with just a screwdriver alone. So, I too had to use a drill to attach them, but they went on quickly and easily at that point.
Best of all, the remote that comes with it has Alexa built in, so you can speak to change channels, open different apps or menus, and I can also control my cable box with it!
I’m very glad I was fortunate enough to buy it at such a low price for a quality smart TV of its size! Given how long my old one lasted, I’m confident that this one will be just as durable, and last just as long. In fact, I’m ordering another one now and putting it away to serve as a Christmas present for my mother!
